AFFF and Firefighters

During the course of their careers members of the Armed Forces were unknowingly exposed to chemicals known as PFAS chemicals, which have now been found to cause several types of cancers and other serious health conditions. PFAS chemicals are contained in Aqueous Film Forming Foams (AFFF), which are regularly deployed in fire training drills, and are used extinguish flammable liquid fires such as those involving jet fuel or gasoline. The chemicals create a film that kills fires by cutting off the oxygen from the flame, Unfortunately, it appears that these chemicals can also contribute to the serious illnesses and deaths of the firefighters and other service members that used them. Anyone exposed to these chemicals faces a higher risk of potentially fatal health issues.
